BIO:

James earned his BFA in Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in 2008. While at RISD, he took courses at Brown University and Pont-Aven School of Contemporary Art, in France. He currently lives and works in New York City. While maintaining a professional career as a project manager in the design / fabrication industry, James is an artist at heart, and his primary focus is painting.

His influences include Giorgio Morandi, Ralston Crawford, Walter Burt Adams, Philip Guston, Aleš Veselý and Carmen Herrera. Ranging from figurative to abstract, James’ work often examines relationships between man-made landscapes and the natural environment.

When James isn’t painting he writes / illustrates THA SHACK. Inspired by the work of Todd McFarlane, Rob Schrab, Sam Keith and Jim Lee, THA SHACK tells stories from James’ life in comic book form.
